Little Chef’s success still rests on a recipe from top chef Heston Blumenthal. The Sunday Times' Matthew Goodman provides the latest installment in the saga of the roadside brand's reinvention.

Back in January 2009, we asked if you would put your brand through the Little Chef TV trial after Channel 4 had screened Big Chef Takes On Little Chef, which first saw Blumenthal unveil his plans for a revamp at the British roadside institution.
Being reality TV, there was plenty of confrontation and overcoming adversity - not to mention some intriguing insights into management. Not surprisingly, there was Blumenthal wondering if Little Chef really wanted his creations or just the publicity.

The real stars of the TV show were actually the manager and team at Popham, who came through the experience realising they were probably a lot better than anyone had given them credit for.
